If you're looking to drive a heavy goods vehicle it is a legal requirement you must pass a HGV LGV Medical.
This test can be carried out by your own or any registered doctor. A private doctor can charge up to £150 for a HGV LGV medical.
Some companies will pay for their employees medical examination.
At truck training leeds, the cost of a medical and licence application is included in our training fees. We can supply you with a D4 medical form and a HGV LGV medical examination when you book an HGV LGV Training Course. This saves you time and money and gets you on the road and learning to drive at a much quicker pace. The D4 is valid for up to 4 months before applying for your licence.
The medical examination itself is very simple and takes only 20 to 30 minutes.
The doctor will discuss any medical issues and make a detailed physical examination. If you are on any form of medication please alert the doctor of any treatments you are taking.
Your eyesight will be tested and you are required to have reasonable vision in both eyes.
If you wear contact lenses you will be asked for the to be removed and you must be able to read the top two lines of an eyesight test.
You will be required take a urine test and your weight, blood pressure, heart, chest and skeletal will be checked and recorded.
A blood test will not be taken so don't worry if you're afraid of needles.
